Card Class Cards

I don't really have anything new to show you right now. I haven't had any stampin' time lately - mainly because I have become addicted to the Twilight books- It sure takes up all your free time when you can't put the books down. But I do have some eye candy! Here are the cards that we will be doing at my first card class this weekend. It sounds like there will be a good turn out. I still have lots to do to prepare, but at least it is all fun stuff. :)

Black, White and Pink

I was browsing around yesterday, and came across some great inspiration. If you check out the inspiration link, you will surely see where I got my ideas. This was really the first time I have used my sewing machine on paper. It is a little different than fabric. I really like how this card turned out. Who doesn't love black, white and pink - classic color combo!

Card Class Sneak Peak #2

I have two more sneak peaks of the cards for the November card class. Once again, there are four different stamped cards, and you will make two of each card, going home with 8 cards! All for $10!! If you missed the sneak peaks of the two other cards, you can check them out here. Now, if you don't live in the area (or state) and would like to join in on the card funness (is that a word?), there is a way! Just let me know you are interested and I will give you all the details! If you don't have my email, click on my profile on the sidebar, it should let you email me from there. Have a good day everyone!

Mono Suede

So I've had this card rolling around in the back of my mind for a few days. I finally sat down to do it. I originally wanted to stamp the stamped image in bleach, but when I went to get the bleach out, it was empty- who keeps an empty bleach bottle around the house anyway? I think I do remember having bleach on the shopping list months ago, but must have skipped over it while shopping. It is now on the list again. Anyway.. so I settled for white ink. It worked just fine. The white probably was a better choice anyway because it matched the white poka dots on the ribbon. I did a little sponging in soft suede and distressing with my distressing tool. Tied a bow, put on a few brads and done! I showed it to Seirra and she said it was funny. She didn't like it. She didn't like the brown. Funny girl. It didn't turn out exactly how I pictured it in my head, but I think it looks nice. I chose not to put a sentiment on it, mainly because I didn't have a stamp that said what I wanted it to say. I can just write it on the inside. This card will be going in the mail for someone special. :)

An Autumn Birthday

I was looking through my stamp stash and came across this old stamp set with autumn looking leaves and I immediately remembered Kristina's Make A Card Monday from this week. I thought that the two little leaves from Stampin' Up's Fall Flair (I believe it is an old hostess set) would be perfect for paper piecing. The only autumn looking DSP that I have is Autumn Vine, so I grabbed it off the shelf. The little leaves turned out so cute paper pieced. I drew my own swirly line and used the Chocolate Chip marker to make a dotted line, giving the effect of leaves blowing in the wind. It all came together rather nicely. After I had it all done I took a look at Kristina's card and realized it is almost the same. I guess I subconsiously CASEd her card.

A Cabbage Thank You

I was browsing through my Better Homes and Garden magazine the other day and came across a picture of a cabbage. It was a big ol thing with all of the outer leaves bright green, and all of the inner leaves white with green on the edges. I was immediately inspired and pictured a big ol flower for a card. With that cabbage in mind to recreate, I sat down to make a card and started browsing through my favorite blogs for more inspiration. I came across Dawn McVey's Color Challenge. Her colors came from a picture of foliage she had taken. In her picture was a big ol green cabbage looking plant. Her colors were, pink, chocolate, kraft, green and vanilla. A light went off in my head. The whole cabbage thing was a match, and I had already planned on using green and vanilla, two of the colors in the challenge. Easy peasy. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the challenge. And this is what I came up with. I embossed the 'thank you' and did a little distressing on some of the pieces. Gotta love it when everything unfolds perfectly. :)

Happy Anniversary

Today is my 8th Anniversary to my hubby, Jake. I wanted to share the card that I made for him. I chose some of his two favorite colors, blue and gray. Those colors really are a good combo. At least it gets me away from the new In Colors that I have fallen in love with. Happy Anniversary Babe!

Baby Tag

While I was sitting at my desk making cards today, my sister Nikki called. Nikki was on a shopping trip for a baby gift for her friends new baby boy, Tag. After she had found a gift she asked me if I would make her a card to go along with the gift. Of course I would! I love making cards that are actually for a purpose. Most of my cards sit in a box and wait to be mailed out to someone. Her gift she bought is orange, so I made an orange card to go along with it. I love the way it turned out. This layout is a really good layout. Easy and appealing- in my opinon. Anyway, I thought it turned out super cute.

Weekend Sketch Challenge

I made this card for Beates weekend sketch challenge. I decided to make a cute flower that I saw on Dawn McVey's blog a while back. To see how they are made click here. Those big flowers are so cute and really look nice. The only problem is that they stick out so much from the card that is would be hard to send in the mail. I'm sure the reciever would get a squished flower. I thought it would be a perfect card to put with a gift - that way if you have to mail it, the card would just go in with the pacakge.

Sketch Challenge

I made this card for Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge for the week. They provide the layout and you come up with the rest. I really liked how it turned out. I am just loving the Damask Designs stamp set. I think it would be so pretty on some type of formal announcement.

Happy Birthday To You

So, I was going through all of my scrapbooking stuff and reorganizing everything when I came across some leftover paper I had stamped once upon a time. This paper didn't have a place in my newly organized stash, so I needed to use it up. I am trying to keep all of my scraps a little more organized these days, so I came to the conclusion that I need to use up all of my stamped scrap that I have, before it gets put away never to be found again. I am just really loving the new Stampin' Up In Colors this year. So girly :)

My First Post

I have been making so many cards and papercraft projects lately that I decided to join the papercrafting blog world. My poor hubby has to hear about my latest color combo, my newest cool find, and I'm sure he could care less (although he does a good job at pretending). My two little girls are always in awe of my latest card. Now I get to show them to the world! I hope you enjoy! Sorry about the photos. I am not good at getting good pictures, but I am working on it.

I made this card with a special friend in mind. :) I did a little distressing on this one. I'm headed to the post office today to send this baby off. Hope she likes it.
